Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Conservation Coaches Network (CCNet), you are invited to participate in an OS Coaches training that is specifically designed to develop skilled coaches working with the development and implementation of conservation strategies using the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation.

The workshop is scheduled for 12-16 November, 2018 and will be held at Janda Baik / Malaysia.

WE NEED YOUR REGISTRATION by September 21, 2018 LATEST!
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE LIMITED PLACES AVAILABLE.

The objective of the Coaches workshop is to further develop experienced coaches who will be responsible for supporting conservation teams in the development and implementation of conservation plans using the Open Standards. It will include:

  • Re-visiting the fundamentals of the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation
  • Hands-on exercises in coaching some of the steps of the process
  • Insights, tips and overview of the support available for organizing and facilitating planning projects and workshops
  • An introduction to CCNet, the network of coaches and practitioners of the Open Standards
  • Identification of areas for which coaches would like additional support and training.

–> Please find draft agenda for the Malaysia Coaches Training in a separate document.

You are invited to participate in the training and the Coaches Network because we believe that you have adequate experience with Open Standards, and that you are interested in becoming a conservation coach or improving your coaching skills.

A conservation coach is willing to make the following commitments:

  1. To support at least one team/year in the application of the Open Standards for their planning area (or some equivalent activity e.g. facilitate a peer review workshop; conduct training for partners; participate in the evaluation and design of new materials, etc.)
  2. To stay current with the Open Standards approach to adaptive management and to continue to refine your skills as a coach.
  3. To provide feedback and input about your experiences supporting the Open Standards and to share breakthrough ideas and lessons learned with the Coaches Network to further good adaptive management practices across our larger conservation community.

If you have no former experience with the Open Standards, this workshop will not be the right level for you as we are starting from the premise that all participants know, understand and have applied the Open Standards and now are making a commitment to support other colleagues and communities in applying this method to their projects. The workshop is a complete package, so you should also be able to commit to being there for the entire workshop. The workshop will cover the Open Standards in such a way that you will be able to apply what you learn no matter what organization you work for.

Cost of the Training:

Course Fee includes 5 nights accommodation Sunday 11th to Friday 16th and all meals Sunday Dinner to Friday Lunch and Field trip.
